To communicate one must declare, disclose, tell, announce, transmit, convey, connect and express. Through communication you create rapport, harmony, accord, liaisons and trust. Communication is an art form and the leaders we love have mastered the art of communication.
Ask yourself the following questions:
1. How do I come across to the people I lead or love?
2. How well do I listen to them?
3. How clear and concise do I express my thoughts?
4. How up front am I with what I need? Am I making requests clearly?
5. What do I "really" talk about?
6. How often do I respond vs react?
7. How conscious am I of others need to know?
8. How authentic do I sound to others?
9. How open am I so others aren't left to guessing?
10. How can I stop taking what others say personally?
Excellent communication skills are an essential part of success. If you want to be a great leader begin to observe all of the above.
