« Posted: October 08, 2007, 11:07:27 AM »

Cell Phones have become an indispensable part of our communication. There are more than 150 networks, which operate worldwide, and cell phones can easily work in these networks. Of course, cell phones are priced dependent upon the technology and the features. Apart from helping people to stay in touch with each other, the additional benefits that cell phones provide are messaging, both text as well as video messaging. The ability to shoot photographs as well as short movies. View and exchange presentations on the move, this is very helpful when you want to show your presentations to the client but can't as you are away from the office. There are various companies, which have many models and variations of their cell phones. These are Motorola, Sony - Erricson, Nokia, Samsung, and LG etc. Cell phone operators differ from region to region and country to country. Therefore when you enter a territory or a region that is different from your home territory, you need to pay additional charges. Cell phone operators charge an incoming call amount as well as outgoing call charges. There are charges for text messaging as well as for other functions such as accessing the Internet and emails. Users can opt for either prepaid or post paid connections to use with their cell phones dependent upon the usage of the phone There are also many types of mobile technologies, which are available. These are the TDMA, CDMA, GSM and other digital cell phone technology. Many handsets can work with only specific technologies. Therefore the same cell phone company can offer handsets, which work on TDMA or GSM. How do cell phones talk to each other? Cell phone operators install a kind of a device like a radio transmitter atop towers. These transmitters then transmit the waves of the cell phones and in this way, the cell phones talk to each other. All cell phones use two frequencies when a call is made or received. This is called a duplex channel. In the US, each cell phone can have 56 voice channels available to them. Which means that at one point of time, 56 people can talk on their cell phones. As technology gets cheaper and more accessible, cell charges rates are also getting reduced across he country. In the last 10 years, many cities have seen a splurge in the cell phone accounts. Where this technology was earlier utilized for military use only, civilians across the world can now use it. Cell phone can however be jammed if the governments suspect terrorist activities or activities which may pose a threat to national security and freedom.
