Television Polls Are Worthless
« Posted: October 07, 2007, 11:48:26 AM »

Have you ever noticed that the Television News networks will pick a topic on the news and run with it, then repeat their information, re-interview the same people over and over again and just when you think you want to flip the channel; well they start interviewing each other; that is to say reporters interviewing reporters.

Sometimes they interview celebrities to find out what they think, as if anyone cares? It seems the publicists for all the famous actors and actresses are in bed with the network news agencies and they just keep running the news story for as long as people will listen.

Then the graphics change and you would swear you are watching a Lazarium Show or an award winning website “Flash” creation? With sounds, graphics and fade ins like some sort of high-tech 360 X Box with a Holographic Chip in the middle of your living room? It seems as if the news has become pure unadulterated entertainment.

In fact they show so many graphics there is little time for the actual seven-minute segment on whatever the story is? And of course they have to cut off every guest merely so that they can show you the graphics? What about the news, then again one has to ask the obvious question; what news?

After that whirlwind of visual sensation is over; they pitch you to stay tuned with a “Flash Bulletin” which always turns out to be a re-run of the news you heard earlier in the day, perhaps less than an hour ago? It reminds me of the Casinos, where humans sit and feed quarters into machines mesmerized by the flashing lights and sounds?

After they tell you what the news is, why you should care about the story and how they feel about it and you should feel about it. They hook you into the next segment with a sound bite; “Stay tune for the polls on the last story!!!”

Since all those humans still watching at that point have had their visual fill of stimulation and brain washing, do you ever wonder what those polls say? They always come out exactly the same as the way the particular network slanted the story. I therefore ask; What good are TV news polls anyway? Think on it; if you have any cranial capacity still working up there?
