Inserting Ads on Forums
« Posted: November 04, 2007, 11:23:23 AM »

Lately, forum signatures are being used to insert referral links and ads like never before. Nonetheless it's proven that text link ads don't work on forums and thus userbars were born.

Now, how to build a userbar and what is it?

A Userbar or a Moskito are also known as signature bars being small rectangular images with a 3D appearance that are designed to be put in forum signatures as ads or info bars. Userbars may be animated based on the artist's will. They are often used to show personality, or just to show off... ultimately they represent very efficient ads.
Their standards are strictly enforced and defined by the community to ensure that they all have a neat appearence when animated or when stacked vertically:

- 350 pixels in width
- 19 pixels in height
- A semi-transparent half-ellipse covering the top half of the userbar
- Text using the 'Visitor TT2 (BRK)' font, at 13px aligned to the right and centered vertically
- A diagonal stripe pattern (commonly called a 'scanline' pattern)
- 1 pixel black border

On this, the Moskito, the latest creation of MPortela Design, wants to help everyone needing to start their way on using these new kind of efficient ads.

MPortela is an experienced webdesigner and SEO that tries to specialize on gaming themes from The SAGA Project to ePhem.
