Experienced telecoms industry CEO Bill McHale to lead continued expansion and growth

London, 4 January 2010 – Actix, the recognized leader in Self-Optimizing Network (SON) technologies, today announced the appointment of Bill McHale as Chief Executive Officer.

Already a non-executive director at Actix since May 2007, Bill McHale has successfully led management teams of software companies in the United States and Europe for more than 15 years before joining Argo Global Capital, a venture capital company that specializes in telecoms, wireless, and internet technologies, as a partner in January 2006. While at Argo, Bill served on the board of directors of SurfKitchen Inc., uReach Technologies Inc., PhyFlex Inc., and Sylantro Inc., as well as playing an advisory role in many other Argo investments.

From 2002 he was the CEO of Cerebrus Solutions, a telecoms software company based in the UK, until selling the company in 2005. From 1997 until 2002, Bill was the Chairman and CEO of DSET Corp., a telecommunications software company that provided network management solutions globally to network operators and equipment providers. He led the company through a successful IPO on NASDAQ in 1998 and during his five years at DSET the company was recognized several times as one the fastest growing and most profitable software companies in its segment. Prior to DSET, Bill spent seven years running early stage companies in the software sector. During the first half of his career he worked in sales and marketing positions at IBM, Wang Laboratories and Digital Equipment Corporation and was a Lieutenant in the United States Navy.

“Actix is a company that is blessed with a unique mix of great people, exceptional market presence and excellent products, and I am looking forward to working with the team and helping develop the company further,” said Bill McHale, Actix CEO. “Our LTE and SON offerings are world class solutions that are being deployed in some of the earliest 4G network deployments. The marketplace for our products and services is dynamic and there are exciting prospects ahead for Actix.”

“Actix has gone from strength to strength in the past few years, beginning with the leadership of Alex Hawker. I would like to thank him for his hard work and leadership as the company moves into the next phase of development,” said Scott Collins, Actix Chairman and Managing Director at Summit Partners. “Bill McHale brings a depth of experience that will allow Actix to continue along the current path of growth with increasingly rapid acceleration, and I would like to warmly welcome him to the operational management team”.

Former CEO Alex Hawker will leave the company after a planned transition phase is completed during early 2010. During his three year tenure with Actix Alex was responsible for the creation of the Actix One Enterprise solution suite that has helped create renewed value for customers and growth for the company despite difficult market conditions.
