Actix announces office opening to help Middle East and North African mobile network customers manage costs in maturing market conditions, new LTE rollouts

London, Monday, 7 December 2009 - Actix, recognized leader in mobile Network Status Management (NSM) and Self-Optimizing Network (SON) systems, today announced that the company will be opening a new office in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). The new Actix office will be located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and will focus on providing advanced solutions to local customer to help optimize and enhance profitability of running mobile networks in the growing region.

According to a recent report from Informa Telecoms and Media, the Middle East region is forecast to increase its subscription base by 34% over the period 2008-2012 from 144 million to 193 million. But growth rates will fluctuate widely between the advanced Gulf States, most of which are becoming mature mobile markets, and many of the cost drivers already seen in more mature markets elsewhere will start to come in to play. In addition, an increasing interest in value added services for mobile, operators will need to plan on optimizing their networks to manage heavy new data loads.

“A number of countries in the Middle East are expected to have penetration rates in excess of 100% by 2012, including the UAE with a predicted 257%. Networks are becoming fully loaded with data traffic and operators are well underway with their LTE plans to ease network pressure and fuel the next phase of data growth,” said Alex Hawker, CEO. “The key to success is getting the most out of current infrastructure while planning and deploying new LTE networks in a timely and cost effective fashion, and that is a critical challenge for operators in the region. With hundreds of network customers in both mature and growing regions, Actix is bringing unrivalled expertise and experience to the Middle East and will enable regional mobile operators to optimize their networks to better manage network traffic, increase revenue per user and improve the subscriber experience.”

The new Actix office in Dubai is located within Dubai Media City.
