The ATM5 offers four OC3/STM-1 and one Gigabit Ethernet ports or three OC3/STM-1 and two GbE ports. An option of one or two OC12/STM-4 trunks is also available. The ATM5 is the perfect interface to process ATM and IP signaling and bearer traffic. The board and driver provide advanced capabilities, including AAL2/5 to UDP/IP interworking, GTP to IP interworking and IP routing and forwarding over ATM. The on-board processor handles thousands of packets per second placing minimal load on the host, maximising application performance and minimizing service degradation for the customer.
This generation of the Adax ATM board is based on the state of the art PMC-Sierra Winpath3 (WP3) processor and the APIs are consistent with previous generations of Adax ATM cards. This allows existing customers to easily upgrade their applications, systems and architectures seamlessly with minimal development time, providing fast time to market and reducing CAPEX and OPEX. Designed for use in Rack Mount Servers (RMS) the ATM5-PCIe product serves high availability, high bandwidth carrier applications in LTE wireless, fixed and mobile convergence and Home eNodeB (HeNB) and Femtocell Gateways.
The Adax ATM5 is ideal for solving today's ATM-IP interworking challenges. It can interwork 1M voice packets per second while simultaneously processing the NBAB, ALCAP, Iub, Iu-CS, and Iu-PS signaling necessary for channel set-up and call mapping. Anywhere the network needs to bridge the gap is where the ATM5 belongs. Getting traffic onto the IP core as soon as possible realizes the cost savings of the packet-based network. Third party applications and partner software can be quickly and easily integrated with the ATM5 to provide solutions for Carrier Ethernet (CE). Pseudowire Emulation Edge to Edge (PWE3) connectivity is also possible as a minor custom modification.
