Included in Top 15 Innovators for 2009 GSMA Mobile Innovation Global Award Competition – Americas Tournament
Anam, the leading provider of revenue generating SMS applications, has been named by the GSM Association (GSMA) as one of the Top Innovators for the Americas leg of the 2009 Mobile Innovation Global Award Competition.
Anam has been named as one of three Top innovators in the ‘Most Innovative Mobile Application in a Vertical Market’ category. In total, 15 Top Innovators from five categories will compete for the title of ‘GSMA Mobile Innovation Global Finalist' at the Mobile Innovation Marketplace – Americas event that’s taking place in Atlanta, Georgia, between 3-4 June 2008. The Global Finalist from the Americas leg will then move on to compete against other Finalists from other tournament locations, and one overall winner will be announced as the ‘GSMA Mobile Innovation Global Award Champion’ at the GSMA’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February 2009.
Examples of the innovative services that Anam offers include SMS Money Transfer, which allows users to send money to friends or contacts in their address book, simply using standard text messaging; or Ad-funded SMS which intelligently places advertising on the operator’s mobile terminated messages.
The Mobile Innovation Global Award Competition was created by the GSMA as part of the Mobile Innovation Market. The competition encourages breakthrough technology, applications and services in the mobile industry by bringing together smaller companies developing innovative mobile products, industry investors from leading venture capital firms, and senior figures from mobile operators and leading global brands.
Anam was chosen as one of the top 15 innovators through its work in creating additional SMS revenue opportunities for mobile operators. Using its patented Smart Services technology, Anam creates revenue generating services that can be delivered to subscribers through SMS. As the majority of all mobile subscribers are familiar and comfortable with SMS this increases the likely user-base and therefore revenues.
Anam has recently announced deals with Telenor, a leading Nordic telecommunications provider and the world’s 7th largest telecom operator; and Telus, a leading national telecommunications company in Canada.
