Turku, Finland, 11th February 2010 - Axel Technologies, a pioneer in mobile TV software technologies, and home multimedia products developer Valups, are bringing DVB-T transmission to iPhones, iPod Touch devices and the new iPad. This is the first time when users are able to watch free DVB-T broadcast on their iPhones.

Valups’ T1000 is a unique accessory product that is designed to receive Mobile Digital Television signals sent by the terrestrial Television broadcasters. Another version of T1000 (called as Tivit), capable of receiving US based ATSC-M/H standard, was given “Best of CES” award at the recent Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas in January.

With Axel Technologies mobile TV software, Valups T1000 device is now also available in Europe. T1000 receives DVB-T signal and transmits it over to iPhone via Wifi. End-users can also watch live broadcast TV on their PC by connecting T1000 into the PC via USB cable.

"iPhone is one of the most exciting developments to happen in mobile handset technology over the recent years. iPhone changed the way consumers perceive the mobile phone. Consumers are used to watching videos and listen to music in addition to voice calls and messaging. Therefore it is only natural to include TV capabilities on the device and make live broadcasting available to a wider audience,” comments Markus Kaarto, VP Sales of Axel Technologies.

“By combining our expertise with Axel Technologies software, we were able to create new ways to watch live broadcast. As iPhone's popularity continues to grow, it is important for us to be able to support European standards too after being already a big hit in Japan,” comments Sunny Kim, marketing director of Valups.

Currently the DVB-T/H enabled solution is available for iPhone 3GS, latest generation iPod Touch and the iPad. iPhone 3G version is due to launch during the spring 2010.
