BTI Systems’ Certified Carrier Ethernet Solutions deliver confidence, reduce integration costs, and ensure rapid service delivery.
Ottawa, Canada — 20th May, 2009 // BTI Systems, a global supplier of Intelligent Service Edge solutions for the delivery of high-bandwidth, multi-protocol services today announced that the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) has certified the BTI 700 Ethernet Access portfolio under its Carrier Ethernet Certification program. The BTI 700 Series provides intelligent demarcation, extension, and aggregation functionality for simplified distribution of Ethernet and IP services.
The MEF is a global industry alliance comprising more than 145 organizations including telecommunications service providers, cable operators, MSOs, network equipment, test vendors, labs and software manufacturers, semiconductors vendors and testing organizations. Its purpose is to promote the deployment of Carrier Ethernet and accelerate the worldwide adoption of Carrier-class Ethernet networks and services. The MEF’s globally recognized certification program provides independent validation of equipment interoperability and ensures standardized approaches to service delivery. Certified solutions dramatically reduce testing costs, time-to-market and installation time for end customers of Carrier Ethernet equipment and services.
“BTI joins a growing number of equipment manufacturers and service providers who have had their equipment or services certified to MEF 9 and MEF 14 standards compliance” stated Kevin Vachon MEF, COO. “The MEF anticipates a significant increase in certification over the next two years as organizations of all sizes seek to reduce their CAPEX and OPEX costs by taking advantage of the reliability, scalability and simplified deployment and management features offered by Carrier Ethernet” he added.
The BTI 700 Series was tested by Iometrix, the officially endorsed test lab of the Metro Ethernet Forum, in accordance with its MEF-approved test plans for Ethernet Services at the UNI for MEF 9 and Traffic Management for MEF 14 certification.
BTI 700 Series portfolio includes:
• BTI 701 – Network Interface Device with one combo client port and one network port
• BTI 702 – Ethernet Access Device with two combo Client ports and two Network ports
• BTI 704 – Ethernet Access Device with twelve combo Client ports and four Network ports
• BTI 712 – Ethernet Access Device with twelve combo client ports and two 10G Network ports
The BTI 700 Series offers client combo ports offering SFP (100/1000 Mbps) or RJ-45 (10/100/100 Mbps) interfaces, hot swappable redundant AC/DC power options, and a carrier grade feature set including redundant firmware, hot swappable power and cooling modules, and extended temperature deployment capabilities.
Peter Green, Packet Solutions Product Manager, BTI, commented, “The MEF certification of the BTI 700 Series means our customers can make informed decisions about equipment purchases, and have confidence in BTI solutions as effective service delivery vehicles.” He continued, “Service providers now have a guarantee that the 700 Series complies with MEF specifications, makes efficient use of deployment budgets and time by eliminating the need for complex testing between vendors, and establishes a solid foundation for Carrier Ethernet ubiquity, and interoperability.”
