Click2Scan Selects ABBYY UK as Strategic Partner for Data Capture

Click2Scan Connect now offers seamless connection from ABBYY FlexiCapture Professional to Spielberg FileDirector

London, UK (16th October, 2009) — ABBYY Europe, a member of the ABBYY Group and a leading provider of document recognition, data capture and linguistic software, and Click2Scan Ltd of the UK announce the successful integration of ABBYY FlexiCapture data capture technology with Spielberg’s FileDirector document management solution. Working together with the two companies, Click2Scan has developed a connector which enables the automatic storage of document images and data which have been extracted using the FlexiCapture system into all editions of FileDirector v2.

The Click2Scan connector was developed in response to ongoing requests for an intelligent data capture solution which would include export to a compliant document management system.  After reviewing and testing a number of similar products, Click2Scan’s Martin Peirce decided that only FlexiCapture had the features and performance he demanded.  Peirce explains, “What we really liked about FlexiCapture was the fact that line item recognition was something FlexiCapture could handle without any additional modules.”

ABBYY’s document and data capture software products enable organisations to efficiently automate business processes, dramatically minimise manual operations associated with document processing and data capture and increase overall productivity. The products deliver powerful functions to transform information from various types of paper forms or documents into electronic data and transfer it to business applications and databases.

Easy-to-deploy, cost-effective yet powerful solutions, FlexiCapture products are designed to meet document processing needs in a variety of industries including government, banking, insurance, education, healthcare, accounting, legal, and many more.   With its powerful algorithm for intelligent document classification and selective processing approach, ABBYY FlexiCapture serves as the single entry point for all types of documents including:  forms (questionnaires, tax returns, tests), semi-structured documents (invoices, purchase orders, waybills) and unstructured documents (letters, contracts, articles).

Click2Scan Connect comprises a profile manager and a virtually script-free ActiveX DLL for ABBYY FlexiCapture integration. The profile manager allows a system administrator to create a FlexiCapture / FileDirector mapping which is saved in an encrypted XML format. The FlexiCapture template is configured to use the DLL and read the XML profile in just 3 lines of code. The result is a fully-auditable image and metadata transfer from the paper document through to FileDirector.

According to Click2Scan’s Martin Peirce, “Our solution now gives FileDirector users the ability to process and read thousands of different documents each day, and in the end deliver a faster return on investment. For users of ABBYY FlexiCapture having a secured and compliant repository for scanned documents in the form of FileDirector is also tremendous opportunity.”

For Spielberg Solutions Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of document management product maker Dieter Spielberg DMS GmbH, the partnership between ABBYY and Click2Scan has proven to be just as beneficial.  As Scott Clements of Spielberg explains, “With the Click2Scan integration of ABBYY’s FlexiCapture to FileDirector, we are able to maximise the productivity and automation in the capture of all types of documents.  From hand written forms to multipart invoice sets, it really advances the already powerful and easy to use FileDirector, our flagship product.”
