Speakers from Tesco, Unilever and BT confirmed

London, 24th April 2008: The conference programme for Green IT 08 has been unveiled today, with companies including Tesco, Unilever and BT set to deliver keynote presentations, strategic insights and best practice advice on a range of green IT issues. The Green IT 08 conference and exhibition is dedicated to helping businesses deliver cost-effective, efficient and sustainable information strategies and technologies and is taking place at the Business Design Centre, Islington, London, on 7th and 8th May 2008.   To register for this year’s conference programme, please visit www.greenituk.com/register .

The conference programme will focus on three core topic areas, addressing: Enterprise IT Infrastructure; IT’s Empowerment of the ‘green enterprise’; and Sourcing, Lifecycle and Disposal Policy and Legislation.  The opening keynote will be presented by BT Global CIO, JP Rangaswami, who will outline IT’s role in BT's business transformation path towards a greener enterprise along with Conference co-chairs Euan Davis and Chris Mines, from Forrester Research.

Mike Yorwerth, Group Technology Director of Tesco will also lead a session highlighting the business benefits of creating a green IT strategy and significantly reducing the environmental footprint of its stakeholders. Other top names include Paulo De-Sa, Vice President IT Services, Unilever; and Simon Walkden, Director of Global Technology, Barclays Capital.

The in-depth conference sessions will cover a range of issues, such as how to create and implement an effective green IT strategy; maximising operational efficiencies; and strategies for reducing energy consumption in the IT organisation. The programme also includes speakers from a number of local and central government organisations, including Jos Creese, Head of IT at Hampshire County Council; and Philip Secretan, Head of Sustainable Computing, HM Revenue & Customs.

“The Green IT 08 conference programme has been designed to bring together IT visionaries who are pioneering Green IT strategies and experts, as well as industry heavyweights, to offer delegates the practical foundations and solutions that they need to effectively develop and deliver green strategies across the Enterprise and Public Sector,” said Jim Pierce, co-founder of Green IT 08.

The Green IT 08 conference programme is co-located with the Green IT 08 exhibition, where companies will showcase the very latest green technologies and solutions across the two days.
