DeviceAnywhere Announces the Global Launch of Android Device Package
« Posted: November 10, 2009, 10:32:41 PM »

Android Developer Community Gain Instant Access to the Full Range of Android Devices including DROID; HTC Dream and more

San Mateo, Calif., USA  (November 10, 2009) - Recognizing the growing demand for mobile application development on Android, DeviceAnywhere, the industry leader in end-to-end mobile application testing, today announces the global launch of the Android device package. Available now through DeviceAnywhere Test Center™, the award winning mobile application testing platform, this package will provide independent Android developers worldwide the tools and resources to bring innovative and compelling mobile experiences to market at a minimum cost.

Utilizing DeviceAnywhere’s unique and patented Direct-To-Device™ technology, developers will be able to remotely access a regularly updated library of commercial and pre-commercial Android devices, including the recently launched Motorola Droid and DROID ERIS by HTC on Verizon Wireless from any location. DeviceAnywhere has worked in close collaboration with several of its partners across the carrier and device manufacturer community to launch the new Android package which today offers mobile devices in six different regions between Europe and the U.S. Featured devices available today include:

   DROID by Motorola on Verizon Wireless
   DROID ERIS by HTC on Verizon Wireless
   T-Mobile G1™ with Google™
   HTC Dream on Orange
   HTC Dream on Telefonica
   Motorola CLIQ (MB200) on T-Mobile
   HTC Hero™ with Google™ on Sprint
   Samsung Moment™ with Google™ (M900) on Sprint

Soon to come:
   HTC Magic on Vodafone
   T-Mobile myTouch 3G

The DeviceAnywhere Android package brings a new level of freedom and opportunity to the growing community of independent developers building applications for the Android platform. Fragmentation whether it’s the software, device or version of an operating system are no longer barriers for a developer tasked with offering a variety of applications on a variety of Android devices. Through DeviceAnywhere’s award-winning technology, developers are able to remotely interact with devices as if they were in their hands, such as using touch screen inputs, disconnecting batteries and rotating the device. Developers further benefit from the ability to easily create and run automated tests, removing the need for manual testing and ensuring a superior end-user experience.

With continued support from some of the largest handset manufactures, network operators and brands in the world the Android marketplace continues to grow at a rapid pace. In November 2009, Gartner predicted that the Android operating system will become the second-largest smartphone platform by 2012, with 14.5 percent of the market, or approximately 76 million phones sold per year.

“With this announcement we are opening up doors for an exciting new genre of mobile application developers focused on Android by making testing accessible and efficient,” said Faraz Syed, CEO of DeviceAnywhere.  “We aim to fully support this new platform and the community behind it by offering an easier and more cost-effective solution to break through the fragmentation barrier and bring new content and services to the Android platform. Through our unique network of global partnerships, we are also pleased to feature the newly released DROID by Motorola on Verizon Wireless and DROID ERIS by HTC as the latest addition to the new Android package.”

In support of the Android mobile platform, DeviceAnywhere is offering the package at a fraction of the cost of a standard package to qualifying developers.
