EACS launches Virtualisation Demonstration Centre to help businesses find the right virtual desktop solution
Centre uses IGEL Universal Desktops to demonstrate the benefits of desktop virtualisation
08 December 2008, Huntingdon, UK: EACS today launched its Virtualisation Demonstration Centre to help businesses find the right virtual desktop solution. With business analyst group Gartner predicting total cost of ownership savings of up to 40% for companies moving from traditional to virtual desktops, IT solution provider EACS has opened its Virtualisation Demonstration Centre to show companies how to get the best from the new technology.
EACS is demonstrating virtual desktop technology from market leaders Citrix and VMware. The capabilities of Citrix’s Xen Desktop VDI solution and VMware’s Virtual Desktop Manager solution are being demonstrated using IGEL Universal Desktops. The IGEL units are unique in the marketplace as the only thin clients able to run both virtualisation technologies straight out of the box, at just the click of a button.
“In today’s tough economic climate, desktop virtualisation can prove to be a very effective and efficient solution for businesses looking to save cost and improve reliability,” said Mike Dearlove, managing director of EACS Ltd. “However, there is a still a lot of hype about this technology and using the Virtualisation Demonstration Centre we will be able to show our customers exactly how these solutions can be most effectively deployed.”
Stephen Yeo, worldwide strategic marketing director for IGEL Technology, added: “With the enormous groundswell of UK organisations looking at virtual PCs, we feel the unique EACS Virtualisation Demonstration Centre will be a great success. I know of no other place in the country where IT professionals can see and try all the latest desktop virtualisation technology from industry leaders such as VMware, Citrix, Microsoft and IGEL.”
