Gatineau - October, 16th 2009. The leading Russian wireless broadband access operator Enforta (LLC “Prestige-Internet”) announced today it will be adopting the Mentum Planet® 5.0 radio planning software to design its WiMAX networks.
The project with Mentum started in 2008 with an extensive trial, involving high resolution digitals maps, advanced propagation models, and detailed analysis of the accuracy of the solution. Enforta’s key requirement for the planning tool was full support of WiMAX technology and, in particular, the 802.16e release. Because Mentum Planet® 5.0 was developed for WiMAX and LTE, the software supports the advanced engineering features required, such as OFDMA and smart antenna modeling coupled with a user-friendly interface and state-of-the-art MapInfo™ GIS platform.
Enforta manages over 68 BWA networks in the largest Russian cities covering over 70% of the urban population in Russia, and intends to deploy the next generation of mobile WiMAX networks in 2010.
“The partnership with Enforta has a strategic importance for us, considering the growth potential of WiMAX in the Russian market”, said Philippe Catherine, Chairman and CEO, Mentum “Mentum is committed to support Enforta with their network deployment challenges, and will continue providing best-in-class network planning tools”.
Vladimir Shkvarin, CTO, Enforta said “We are now ready to deploy mobile WiMAX and want a planning tool from a market leader with worldwide presence like Mentum to help us take advantage of all the technological benefits offered by the next generation WiMAX networks. Within our business model, we guarantee a quality of service to our customers, and considering the complexity of WiMAX technology we need to accurately simulate the network’s behavior prior to implementation in order to ensure our customers won’t be disappointed. Now, we are quite confident that we will achieve our goals with the help of Mentum Planet.”
