New two and three millimetre ST type versions to tighten Fujikura grip on market

Fujikura Europe is to expand its top-selling FAST Series Connector portfolio and later this month at ECOC it will be displaying two and three millimetre ST (Straight Tip) type versions for the first time.

The new ST type connectors are ideal for multimode, LAN and CCTV applications and follow Fujikura’s previously highly successful introduction of two and three millimetre connectors with SC and LC versions last year.

“The FAST Connector series have been an enormous success for us across Europe and the ST type availability will add to the flexibility of our customers who are faced with different installation problems every day,” said Fujikura Europe Sales and Marketing Manager Brian Leonard.

The Fujikura FAST (Field Assembly with Simple Technique) Series offers installers assembly in five easy steps – stripping the fibre, cleaning, cleaving, fibre insertion, release of a disposable wedge tool to achieve the completion of assembly.

The key features include:-
- Connector termination in less than 60 seconds
- No messy epoxy
- Termination to both 0.25mm and 0.9mm ө fibre
- No specialised tooling or training needed
- Low insertion loss and back reflection

The FAST connectors cater for 250um and 900um single-mode and multi-mode fibre. They were all designed with simplicity in mind.

“As roll-outs of FTTH around Europe continue at a rapid pace, engineers need to be able to act quickly and highly efficiently – particularly in today’s economic climate, where every Euro counts in relation to the ‘cost-per-user’ ratio,” said Mr Leonard.
