Epicor's Data Migration Tool Makes it Easy to Transfer Data from Existing Closed DOS-Based System to Next-Generation Epicor ERP

Epicor Software Corporation, a leading provider of enterprise business software solutions to the midmarket and Global 1000 companies, today announced that John Hogg, one of the world's leading specialist companies for marking petroleum fuels and lubricants across every continent, has selected the Epicor 9 next-generation enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution.

The implementation will be part of a complete systems overhaul that will see John Hogg upgrade its long-serving DOS-based custom ERP system and reduce the number of integrated systems, merging its financial, inventory, customer relationship management (CRM) and production functionality to Epicor. To ease the transition between the DOS-based solution and Epicor, John Hogg will be using the Epicor Data Migration Tool to extract, cleanse, verify and import its master data sets, saving a huge amount of time, and moving from a labour intensive text-based process to a simple automated “drag and drop” experience.

“We chose Epicor 9 because we feel it provides us with the greatest flexibility of all of the different ERP solutions we assessed, in terms of how we want to run the system now and develop the business in the future,” said Jamie Williams, IT manager at John Hogg.  “While our existing system has been very reliable and served us well, moving to an open architecture that allows us to quickly refine the way we use Epicor and extract management information to ensure we make fully informed business decisions, means we can become even more efficient as a business.”

“One of our key strengths has always been the ability to help companies move from ageing or outdated systems to technology leading functionality in a way that minimises risk through Epicor’s Signature Implementation Methodology,” said James Norwood, vice president of product marketing for Epicor.  “John Hogg is the latest example of a global organization availing itself of the tremendous features and functionality offered in Epicor 9.  We’re excited to take part in enabling John Hogg to achieve the flexibility it wants from an ERP system.”
