GyPSii Wins Symbian Star Developer Award

For Most Innovative Symbian Application

October, 24th, 2008, Salo, Finland and Amsterdam, The Netherlands: GeoSentric Oyj’s (NASDAQ OMX: GEO1V), GeoSolutions BV Business Unit (GyPSii), today announced that it has won a prestigious Symbian Star Developer Award, for Most Innovative Symbian Application, in recognition of its market-leading mobile digital lifestyle application and geo-mobility social networking platform – GyPSii.

Presented during the Symbian Smartphone Show in London on Wednesday, the Star Developer Awards recognise the most unique and innovative applications developed for mobile phones based on Symbian OS™, as chosen by leading developer programs represented at the show. GyPSii was nominated for an award by NAVTEQ Network for Developers (NN4D). This innovative application also caught the eyes of the judges at the finals of the NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge® earlier this year.

GyPSii Vice President of Products Sam Critchley collected the award, which was presented by David Wood, EVP Research at Symbian, on stage during the keynote at the event on October 22nd.

“We are delighted to receive this award and have GyPSii recognised internationally for our continued development using the Symbian platform,” said Critchley.  “I thank NAVTEQ for its support as GyPSii continues to innovate and grow its customer base across the globe. Our use of NAVTEQ maps means that GyPSii members can link their User Generated Content to the very latest mapping data, as well as updated points of interest (POI) and other useful content to deliver a rich user experience to our members merging their physical and virtual worlds.”

“GyPSii is a great example of how map data and GPS technology can be combined to develop innovative wireless LBS applications, so we had no hesitation in nominating it for the Symbian Star Developer Award,” explained Marc Naddell, VP Partner & Developer Programs at NAVTEQ.  “NAVTEQ digital mapping provides the right quality and depth of coverage to effectively support this type of social networking solution that connects user-generated content to people and places.”

GyPSii members can experience a broad range of location-specific capabilities and mobile lifestyle services - including user-generated content, content-sharing, geo-location content search and social networking, as well the ability to view it all on a map – all within a single experience including NAVTEQ map data and content. Using GyPSii, members can access and enjoy “real-time” mobile features on their device, such as “Locating Friends” and sharing information on nearby point of interests, including places – restaurants, bars and clubs – contributed by friends and fellow GyPSii members.

GyPSii currently runs on Symbian phones from Nokia & Samsung (the newly launched i8510 showcased at the show), Windows Mobile, and BlackBerry devices, as well as the Apple iPhone and browser-based Internet-connected devices. It can be accessed on the web at www.gypsii.com or a compatible phone’s mobile browser at www.gypsii.com/m.
