RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – November 10, 2009 - Harris Stratex Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: HSTX), a leading provider of wireless solutions that enable the evolution of next-generation fixed and mobile broadband networks, today announced it will be exhibiting and presenting at AfricaCom 2009. Recognised as Africa’s premier communications congress and exhibition, the show will be held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre in South Africa from November 11th – 12th.

Paul Kennard, Senior Vice President and Chief Technical Officer, will be jointly presenting alongside Peter Correia, COO of Vodacom Tanzania, on how networks can be prepared for broadband to support high-quality mobile and corporate communications services. The presentation will commence at 12:00 on Wednesday, November 11th at the Cape Town International Conference Centre.

During the show, Harris Stratex Networks will also be showcasing its Eclipse™ Packet Node high-speed IP wireless backhaul platform, which was recently honored with the 2009 Wireless Backhaul Distinction Award from Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC) and Crossfire Media.

The Eclipse™ Packet Node is the industry-leading wireless backhaul solution for mobile operators who want to be ‘4G-ready’ and provide the next generation of mobile broadband services. The platform seamlessly supports TDM, as well as carrier-grade Ethernet data traffic, via scalable Liquid Bandwidth™ software. The extensive use of nodal architecture provides carriers with the ability to configure TDM or Ethernet services as and when they are required.

“With the growth of the mobile communication industry in Africa currently outpacing the rest of the world two-fold, mobile operators require the backhaul infrastructure to enable them to meet the demand for the launch of new mobile services,” said Paul Kennard, Senior Vice President and Chief Technical Officer, Harris Stratex Networks. “With a longstanding presence in the region, we feel we have the expertise and products to help operators and carriers meet this demand now and in the future.”

“Africa is a hugely important market for us, particularly as its population increases the need for data-rich mobile products and services. AfricaCom 2009 will provide us with the opportunity to meet with our African partners and customers to further discuss how we can continue to improve the mobile user experience across the nation.”

AfricaCom 2009, the 12th annual AfricaCom Conference and Exhibition, is the yearly gathering of Africa’s telecommunications leaders. At this year’s event more than 4,000 of stakeholders in the continent’s telecoms market will gather to learn about the latest trends, share experiences and network. Pre-registered participants will come from 110 countries, with 224 different operator companies represented.
