HomeGrid Member Marvell picks up 2 key awards at Connected Home Global Summit 2012

Beaverton, Ore., April 27, 2012

News highlights:

•         ‘Best Contribution to Interconnectivity Standards’ won by Marvell
•         Award for ‘Individual Contribution to Connected Home Development' won by John Egan, Marvell

HomeGrid Forum, the organization promoting the ITU-T’s G.hn family of standards for faster, more robust networking over any wired connection in the home, has praised the winners of the Connected Home Awards announced earlier this week in London at the Connected Home Global Summit 2012.

Winner of the ‘Best Contribution to Interconnectivity Standards’ was Marvell Semiconductor, Inc., following the launch of its ITU-T 1Gbps G.hn standard compliant transceiver chipset. The award for ‘Individual Contribution to Connected Home Development’ went to Marvell manager of strategic marketing and standards, John Egan.  With Egan’s guidance, Marvell’s G.hn transceiver chipset emerged as an outstanding implementation optimizing the wireline distribution of bandwidth-intensive and real-time applications such as HD and 3D IPTV, VoIP, gaming, multi-room DVR and beyond.

”On behalf of the entire Marvell G.hn team and Marvell’s Connectivity Business Group, I would like to thank the Connected Home community for this recognition,” said Egan.  “G.hn technology is a cornerstone of Marvell’s complete product portfolio for the ‘Connected Home.’ We also thank HomeGrid Forum for its support in evangelizing G.hn’s benefits as HomeGrid’s certification process nears culmination. HomeGrid-certified products will soon come to market, and we look forward to continued collaboration within HomeGrid to promote such certified G.hn products and provide market leadership.”

The Connected Home Industry Awards are dedicated to honoring the most innovative solutions and ideas which drive connectivity and outstanding services in the home. They celebrate pioneers in the industry and recognize ground-breaking innovations.

David Thorne of BT who chaired the Awards ceremony said: “These Awards are important to the Connected Home community because they represent a benchmark of quality and achievement amongst those who are working tirelessly to make the Connected Home a reality.”
