HP Launches Sports Equipment for Schools Scheme
« Posted: June 10, 2009, 07:03:10 PM »

Teachers can also to benefit from Unique Trade-In Initiative

LONDON, UK June 09, 2009 – HP, producers of laptop computers and PCs today announced ‘PC4PE’, a sports equipment for schools scheme which will enable teachers and parents purchasing HP PCs and laptops to collect points which can be used to buy sports equipment for a school of their choice.

For each qualifying unit sold (which includes all HP Desktops, laptops, Workstations, iPAQs, Thin Clients, PC Blades and HP accessories), every pound spent is worth one point with a typical laptop computer providing a school with £5 worth of PE equipment.

In order to allocate points to their chosen school, HP’s customers simply need to visit www.pc4pe.co.uk, find their school, fill out a simple online form and print off the verification. The verification, along with proof of purchase, then needs to be sent to the PC4PE address for validation. If a school has not yet been registered, either a parent or teacher can register the school themselves on the website.

“Forecasts suggest that Schools will spend more than £1 billion on IT equipment such as Laptops and PCs during 2009-2010,” explains Steve Gales, Business Development Manager, HP Personal Systems Group. “For those schools that invest in HP computer equipment, we wanted to give something back that both the schools and children could benefit from. We have also extended the programme to cover all HP retail laptops and desktops, meaning that parents buying HP PCs during the promotional period can also redeem points and gift them to a school of their choice.”

In addition to HP’s PC4PE initiative, schools can now benefit from a unique Trade-In scheme being introduced, which will dramatically reduce the cost and hassle of upgrading to new computers.

Once a School has decided which HP Top Value Notebook or desktop they wish to purchase, they simply need to visit HP’s Part-Exchange Valuator at  http://www.pcpartexchange.co.uk/schools/ and determine the value of their existing computer (customers can trade in both HP and non-HP products).

If the customer is happy with the appraisal – which is calculated to offer an accurate current market valuation – they need to print off the Valuation Certificate, purchase their chosen HP laptop or desktop and send their old hardware along with the Certificate and a copy of the invoice to HP. Provided that the condition of the part-exchanged computer was accurately described, a cheque for the Valuation Certificate amount will then be posted out within 28 days.

“When schools want to upgrade to new desktops or laptops, finding homes for their old computers can often be a cumbersome process,” comments Gales. “This initiative has been designed to remove the hassle of having to find a buyer and negotiate a sale. Instead schools buying HP are only a click away from exchanging their old computers at a true market value. The good news for schools is that we have placed no limit on the school trade-in program so a school can trade in its entire ICT suite should it so wish.”
Both initiatives run from 11 May 2009 until 01 September 2009.
