ILX Launches M-Learning: Bite Size Training For Mobile Devices

... Flexible, just-in-time learning that can be accessed on a mobile phone, PDAs, Apple iPhones and iPods...

Tuesday 10th February 2009, ILX Group plc has launched m-learning (mobile learning), a new platform to deliver bite size training courses directly onto mobile phones, PDAs, Apple iPhones and ipods. The flexible, just-in-time learning will complement existing ILX e-learning courses and provide bite size modules for people who want to maximize on waiting time such as travelling on public transport or sitting in airport lounges.

ILX m-learning is accessible now for customers who purchase ITIL V2 and PRINCE2 Foundation, and video downloads are also available for both courses. Mobile learning resources on Apple iPhone and iPod Touch are expected end of March 2009.  There are plans to extend the entire range of Best Practice training later in the year.

Eddie Kilkelly, Managing Director, Best Practice Division, ILX Group plc, says: “ILX has for many years been recognised as the foremost innovator in the Best Practice training market. This new initiative demonstrates our commitment to the development of greater flexibility through technology.”

Kilkelly adds: “Our new delivery mechanism will suit anyone who is studying for a Best Practice qualification - and those wishing to benefit from the flexibility of revising anywhere. We have started our m-learning solution initially with the iPod and iPhone as they are the world’s most popular personal multimedia player and have proven channels for providing media and applications. We are also looking at other platforms such as Blackberry later in the year.”

Downloadable training sessions will be provided on a complementary basis to anyone who has purchased ILX’s e-learning or classroom training.

ILX currently delivers courses in audio, video and web formats for the following devices:
•   Audio versions of PRINCE2 Foundation and ITIL V2 : Windows mobile devices and Apple iPhone and iPod Touch
•   Video versions of PRINCE2 and ITIL V2 : Windows mobile PDA and Apple iPhone and iPod Touch
•   Web : Windows mobile PDA and Apple iPhone and iPod Touch

ILX is also providing native applications for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch.
