London, 14 June 2012 – Interoute, owner operator of Europe's largest cloud services platform, announced today that its Virtual Data Centre (VDC) has been awarded the 2012 Information, Communication and Media Technology (ICMT) Award for TLC driven convergence.
The award ceremony, which took place on 12 June, was hosted by the President of the Italian Republic Senate, Roberto Schifani. The award recognises the superior simplicity and security of Interoute’s Virtual Data Centre and the contribution it has made to advancing in cloud computing technology.
Interoute Virtual Data Centre defines a new class in cloud computing, enabling organisations to create highly dynamic cloud computing services that are sensitive to the complex demands of European business. Built into the fabric of Interoute’s pan-European network, it also enables organisations to deploy virtual computing and storage infrastructure for their enterprise applications in a matter of minutes.
Matthew Finnie, CTO at Interoute commented: "Lack of control is one of the key factors holding enterprises back from the cloud. Interoute’s Virtual Data Centre offers cloud computing without any compromises, giving greater visibility and control over where and how data is stored. We are extremely proud to have Interoute’s Virtual Data Centre acknowledged by this award. It is testament to our commitment to keep delivering innovative services that meet changing business needs.”
The ICMT Award comprises three categories for technological development and forms part of the Innovation award program. It is sponsored by Confindustria (The Italian Industry Confederation) and sets out to encourage and celebrate Italian excellence in the digital technology field.
