Interxion Delivers Secure Data Service to Argus Media
« Posted: May 26, 2009, 06:54:51 PM »

LONDON, 26th May 2009 - Interxion, a leading European operator of data centres, today announced that it has installed a Secure Data Service (SDS) managed online back-up and restore solution for Argus, a leading provider of price assessments, business intelligence and market data for the global coal, electricity, oil, gas, emissions and transportation industries.

Information is key to Argus’s business proposition, and as a result, the need to access, retrieve and distribute it efficiently and effectively is critical. Interxion’s SDS ‘Vault’, which replaces a tape back-up system, now stores all data off-site at one of Interxion’s data centres in the Netherlands. Fully encrypted software now backs up all critical files, securing the flow of timely business intelligence and market information to Argus customers.

Interxion’s SDS is designed to ensure that the back-up is instantly off site. The SDS service can back-up standard file systems such as Microsoft, Novell, Unix, AS400 and Mac as well as live Oracle, SQL, Exchange, Notes and other hot back-up databases. It can also complete file-level restores of individual mailboxes or emails.

“Interxion’s agentless technology offers a high-performance, cost-effective, scalable solution with excellent service for organisations that deal with large volumes of business-critical data,” said Jim Hughes, Global IT Manager of Argus “Furthermore, we are now able to back-up from our Singapore office as easily as from the UK, secure in the knowledge that our data is safely stored and quickly recoverable from a high-availability Interxion vault.”

“Data security is a mission-critical issue for international data-driven businesses like Argus, and it can now be handled quickly, easily, and effectively with SDS,” said Greg McCulloch, Managing Director, Interxion UK. “We are pleased to have been able to provide one of our specialist solutions to Argus so that they can channel all their energies into providing up-to-the-minute market data, news and analysis to their customers around the world.”
