Information security user and vendor luminaries address challenges and opportunities of cloud computing together
London, 15 January 2009 – Jericho Forum, the high level independent user group, announced today the results of its recent member elections for five board appointments. For the first time two senior representatives from the vendor community – Philippe Courtot, CEO of Qualys, and John Arnold, Chief Security Architect, Capgemini – are joining the board.
Board membership lasts for a period of three years and election is conducted on the basis of member votes on a one vote per member-organisation basis. Three key contributors to the Forum over its four year history have also been re-elected, Paul Simmonds (AstraZeneca), John Meakin (BP) and Andrew Yeomans (Dresdner Kleinwort). They re-join existing board members, Adrian Seccombe (Eli Lilly) and Steve Whitlock (Boeing).
“De-perimeterisation is already happening, will continue to happen and will inevitably impact virtually all networked IT systems. Jericho Forum has always emphasised the need for vendors and users to work together to establish safer and more effective collaboration in a de-perimeterised world. Over the last four years this has had clear influence and led to many practical developments. The appointment of two respected vendors to our board demonstrates our continued emphasis on the delivery of practical solutions for business” said Adrian Seccombe, CISO and Senior Enterprise Information Architect at Eli Lilly and Jericho Forum board member.
“Jericho Forum sees cloud computing as offering unique benefits to business – if properly and responsibly integrated into security strategy” added Seccombe, “Our vision for 2009 focuses strongly on the development of secure best practices for collaboration in the cloud”
Jericho Forum’s goal is to promote confidence and operational efficiency for businesses operating in the cloud through the development of effective cross-organisational processes, ICT products that conform to open security standards and assurance processes that can be trusted by all parties.
Qualys, a leading provider of on demand IT security risk and compliance management solutions, was the first vendor to join Jericho Forum four years ago, and Capgemini has also been an active member since 2005, working with Jericho Forum to lay foundations for de-perimeterisation.

The Collaboration Oriented Architectures framework laid out a set of design principles allowing businesses to protect themselves against the security challenges posed by increased collaboration and addresses the business potential offered by Web 2.0.
