Netadmin helps JT Global in its aspiration to deliver a state of the art fibre optic network to all 42,000 premises on Jersey

15 August 2012 -  JT Global, an innovative telecoms provider and the incumbent communications enabler for one of the world’s leading financial centres based in the Channel Islands, has brought in Swedish open access network management specialist Netadmin Systems. The company, formerly known as Jersey Telecom, is seeking to implement fibre to the home (FTTH) to all 42,000 premises on Jersey within three years.

The Netadmin solution, which has been in place since December 2011 in a pilot scheme, is now being rolled out across the whole project, to automate the service fulfilment and assurance processes. It will also provide a user friendly platform for JT and other service providers on and off the island to launch their services from.

“With the implementation of a full FTTH network planned, and such an advanced network management system soon in place, Jersey is one of the most innovative and commercially viable environments to do business in the Western hemisphere,” said JT’s Chief Operations and Technology Officer Dave Newbold. “Netadmin is recommended by some of the most experienced FTTH network engineers and has an excellent track record in projects across the world. With a dominant presence in Sweden, one of the world’s most advanced countries for fibre infrastructure, they are coming from a position of knowledge and experience,” Mr Newbold added.

The platform provides functional support for automated service fulfillment including inventory and resource management as well as ticket management, SLA statistics, and speeds up network troubleshooting due to the complete view in one system.

“As a leading financial centre, Jersey needs a first rate communications infrastructure. JT is well ahead in the planning to implement FTTH to every single property,” said Torbjörn Sandberg, CEO of Netadmin. “We learned over the past decade in Sweden that it is not enough to lay fibre alone – but an environment is also required in which multiple service providers can thrive and reach the customers simply and easily. Netadmin makes this possible, providing choice, competition and efficient fast management of the network.”

Netadmin is working alongside technology partners Cisco, Genexis and Dimension Data on the project.
