Certification builds on Kcom’s position in the PSN market

London, 11 June 2012: Kcom, the leading provider of managed communication services, today announces that it is the first organisation that the Cabinet Office has awarded a PSN Service Provider certification to, for its Managed Wide Area Network (WAN) solution.

The compliance programme is the next step in the Government’s plans to develop a PSN operating model that gives public sector organisations the confidence they are procuring a solution that meets the required standards of service and security.

Kcom was awarded the certification following a year-long auditing process which verified that its technology and service met the required standards. Its Managed WAN solution offers public sector organisations the assurance that they can securely share services over the network because it is built on an ITIL Version 3 Framework. Managed WAN is the first of a number of services that Kcom has submitted to be assessed for compliance.

“We’re delighted to be the first organisation to achieve PSN Service Provider certification for our Managed WAN service,” said Afshin Attari, Director of Public Sector & Public Services Networks at Kcom. “We’re committed to providing the best solutions for PSNs in the market and the Cabinet Office’s recognition of our Managed WAN service, as well as our recent award to the PSN Connectivity Framework Agreement, recognises our investment and focus in this area.”

Kcom’s Managed WAN solution is currently being deployed in PSNs for Staffordshire County Council, Dorset County Council and for the East Midlands PSN (emPSN), three out of the four PSNs procured to date. Securing additional PSN contracts will be a key area of focus for Kcom in 2012.
