m62 Urges Presenters to Think Positive about Sales Presentations
« Posted: October 21, 2009, 08:28:50 PM »

m62 visualcommunications, the global leader in presentation effectiveness, is today highlighting to presenters the importance of displaying a positive attitude when giving presentations. For presenters, using a positive attitude and vocabulary can have a great impact on the effectiveness of presentations. Combined with engaging presentation design, a positive attitude can make a presentation much more successful.

Every presentation has a purpose, and the foremost objective in sales presentations is to persuade the audience to buy a product or service. Achieving this goal requires not only a favourable argument, but also an element of belief on the part of the audience. Therefore, it is important to convince the audience that what is promised can actually be delivered.

Using phrases such as “you will” and “will greatly increase” rather than “we think we could…” or “our services often” help to satisfy the audience that the presenter is certain that his company can perform to its potential. If the presenter is confident in the product, it follows that the audience will find it much easier to be so.

Likewise, question and answer sessions should be seen as an opportunity, not an attack. They are a chance to reinforce the message and link back to earlier material, rather than a torturous process to muddle through with the least damage possible.

Presentations should also finish on a positive note. Many presenters simply thank the audience for their time. It is more useful to end by asking the prospect when the next step of the process should begin. Audiences are impressed by the display of focus and engagement.

Nicholas Oulton, Founder of m62, commented: “It sounds impractical, but positive thinking and positive speaking can make a huge difference to a sales or marketing presentation. Persuasive presentations are about generating belief, and using vague, uncertain vocabulary will not help an audience to do this. If the audience can imagine the impact of your message affecting them, you’re well on your way already.”

m62 offer a range of services, from PowerPoint training to free PowerPoint templates. m62 has produced over 6,500 presentations to date, with clients including BP, Microsoft and Sony.
