Managed Services Company Attenda achieves CarbonNeutral(R) accreditation
London – January 20th 2009 – Attenda Limited, the Always On Managed Services company, has been awarded the CarbonNeutral(R) office accreditation in recognition of its net zero CO2 emissions rating.
This means that all the CO2 emissions relating to its offices including energy consumption and waste has been quantified and reduced to net zero. This CarbonNeutral(R) accreditation is an integral part of Attenda’s Social Responsibility Programme, which includes its focus on supporting charities, and demonstrates a commitment to the pro-active management and effective control of the environmental impact of all its business activities.
Attenda’s Environmental Strategy reflects a continual drive to best practice and complements its existing ISO 9001 certified Quality Management System, ISO 27001 certified Information Security Management System and ISO 20000 certified IT Service Management System.
Mark Fowle, Attenda CEO explains, “To demonstrate our environmental commitment we took a decision to offset the carbon footprint that we could not reduce through business change, and following an extensive selection process we chose to work with The CarbonNeutral Company.”
Fowle continues, “They understood and helped form our environmental strategy and objectives and demonstrated the commitment, experience and expertise to help us achieve them.”
The CarbonNeutral Company is the world’s leading carbon offset and management business, working with thousands of businesses across the globe to reduce their CO2. Sue Welland, Founder & Creative Director, The CarbonNeutral Company said, “The ICT industry is currently responsible for around two percent of global CO2 emissions – the same as flying. Managed Service companies such as Attenda are in a great position to help to reduce this, not only through taking accountability of their own CO2 emissions but by encouraging others to do so too.”
Fowle adds, “We are seeing environmental impact becoming an important factor with our Clients and in bidding for new Client contracts in commercial, financial services, professional & business services markets.” Fowle continues, “Additionally, through the Catalist framework, public services organisations are now including social responsibility as an important factor in their supplier selection process.”
The Environmental Strategy is already an important factor in maintaining long term Client contracts some of whom have already achieved CarbonNeutral(R) status including St. James’s Place and Reed. Attenda will now be able to help lower Client emissions and ‘green the supply chain’ by providing Clients with the option of a supplier who is CarbonNeutral(R). Attenda will shortly be introducing a service option that will allow its clients to offset the carbon footprint of their infrastructure that they host within Attenda’s data centres.
