Morgan Benjamin announces MB Context for Cognos solutions
1 October, 2007; Business intelligence consultancy Morgan Benjamin has today launched a tool that will revolutionise the way reporting is currently carried out within a Cognos environment. MB Context will provide organisations with the ability to improve the way they interact with reports and data within their business intelligence infrastructure, by offering reports that provide real human insight into data.
Graham Walter, VP of Cognos UK, Middle East and South Africa, said, “Morgan Benjamin has listened and responded to its customers’ needs, and the introduction of such a unique and powerful tool should have a real impact on the information and results users are able to generate from reports – and the decisions they make as a result.”
As technology enables organisations to gather, store and disseminate larger and larger amounts of data, ensuring that people can interpret the data correctly and interact with it faster becomes ever more key. MB Context allows users to share knowledge online and in real time and creates business intelligence that is tailored to the individual needs of the user. In recognition that contextual information is as important as the data on which it is based and should therefore be stored in the same way, MB Context also enables Cognos users to interact with reports and data, add context and share this information to customised groupings.
MB Context allows users of Cognos solutions to take additional control of their data and offers them an opportunity to further enhance their business intelligence platform and allow it to be tailored to their needs.
Key highlights include:
• Users can add insight to BI and store that data securely in the same location as the database
• Offers the opportunity for users to interact with business processes by flagging documents actioned.
• Enhances compliance initiatives by enabling BI tools to support workflow
• Gives individual Cognos users the ability to define the way categories relevant to them are grouped, removing the ‘one-size fits all’ approach to groupings and hierarchies.
• Removes the need to export reports from Cognos to Microsoft Excel, Word or PowerPoint in order to undertake the time-consuming and error-inducing manual management of the data.
• Offers a feedback option on reports – e.g. users can request adjustments such as listing customers in order of sales volume, filter enhancements, chart modifications or distribution list changes.
