Data integration software vendor JuxtaComm Technologies has filed suit in a Texas court alleging patent infringement. The case names a number of high-profile software companies, including Microsoft and IBM. JuxtaComm is alleging that the companies in question?which include a number of prominent business intelligence and application integration companies?have infringed its patent for a system that transforms and exchanges data between distributed heterogeneous computer systems.Â
JuxtaComm originally applied for the patent, filed as US Patent 6195662 B1, in June 1997. The patent license was granted in 2001. The Canada-based company filed its suit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas on Aug. 17. The companies involved in the claim include Ascential Software, Business Objects, Business Objects America, CA, Cognos, DataMirror, Fiorano Software, Hummingbird, IBM, Informatica, Information Builders, InterSystems, iWay Software, Metastorm, Microsoft, Open Text, Software AG, Sybase and WebMethods.
