Mindjet Connect brings together world-renowned experts in teaching and childcare to collaborate on ground-breaking education programme for UK children
The Baby Matterz learning experience leverages Mindjet’s collaboration solution to visualise and share information and ideas
London UK, 2 April 09, Mindjet, the leading provider of applications for interactive visual information mapping and collaboration, today announced that the ground-breaking education programme Baby Matterz is using its collaboration platform Mindjet Connect to bring together a group of world-renowned experts in teaching and childcare to help develop a new learning experience for school children in the UK.
Baby Matterz is a new initiative being introduced into schools that gets children to understand babies and toddlers, and Mindjet Connect forms the central ‘visual’ planning hub from where professionals discussed and developed the programme in an effective and non-invasive way.
Mindjet Connect is a hosted software-as-a-service offering that delivers three levels of functionality: the core MindManager information mapping application; secure online workspaces where teams can co-create and edit maps simultaneously, as well as store and edit any kind of file; and unified communications tools like web conferencing, instant messaging and whiteboards
Commented Aulden Dunipace, managing director of The Learning Partnership, the learning and development firm behind Baby Matterz: “When planning for this new kind of education programme we knew the greatest challenge was always going to be how to get the available experts and professionals scattered all around the world into one place to discuss and develop ideas for Baby Matterz all on an ongoing basis – the most cost-effective and productive solution was to look at the collaborative technology, Mindjet Connect.”
Mindjet Connect is a collaboration platform that lets people map their information and collaborate over the web in real time allowing users to visually organise, communicate and act on ideas. The Baby Matterz programme has been developed on a workspace over the web with contributors, experts and professionals invited to meetings to populate content within the planning map. From the map or workspace, individuals collaborate on the development of the course in real time and users can chat with other team members, launch web conferencing to present information, share desktops or record notes collaboratively on a dynamic, online map of their information and ideas. By using a SaaS workspace solution the experts or professionals could also enter the programme at a convenient time to make amendments and improvements no matter where they were located.
Aulden continued: “Imagine coordinating a meeting with professionals around the world to develop a course of this richness and complexity. The online collaborative development of Baby Matterz removed significant logistical and financial barriers as it would have been near impossible to produce an education programme of this detail. And because Baby Matterz exists as an online workspace in the future we expect to use Mindjet Connect to capture the latest thinking or legislation from the panel of experts ensuring Baby Matterz remains current.”
The Baby Matterz programme gets pupils to learn about the social, emotional and physical development of babies and toddlers in a completely different way and is currently piloting in Liverpool with later plans to introduce across other UK schools.
“Mindjet with MindManager has continually innovated in the education sector and Baby Matterz is a tangible demonstration of the benefits of collaborative visualisation technologies,” said Chris Harman, director, Mindjet UK. “In this instance Mindjet Connect has connected many disparate professionals from around the globe and helped to develop an innovative education programme for UK schools. In the process professionals are able to work more efficiently and save time and money.”
