Multi-band antenna opens up new applications for UMTS routers

AirLancer Extender I-360-3G for GPRS/EDGE and UMTS/HSPA reception

London, UK, Wednesday 4th November, 2009 - Networking specialists LANCOM Systems supplement their range of professional UMTS routers with the new specialised antenna AirLancer Extender I-360-3G. This indoor antenna supports all of the relevant GPRS/EDGE and UMTS/HSPA frequencies. This antenna enables the UMTS router LANCOM 1751 UMTS to operate even in spaces with weak signal reception (i.e. in metal cabinets, cellars, temporary confined installations).

Universal availability of EDGE and the introduction of the high-speed UMTS standard HSPA increasingly enable UMTS routers to be used for Internet backup, or even as primary Internet access solutions in professional environments. The problem is common enough: Signal reception inside buildings is simply too weak.

With the AirLancer Extender I-360-3G for the UMTS router LANCOM 1751 UMTS, LANCOM now offers a supplementary antenna with a powerful magnetic base for installation without drilling. Removing the antenna again leaves no marks thanks to the protective rubber cover on the magnetic base. The magnet does not affect the router, even if it is mounted directly on the device itself. The radio signals are transmitted to the router over a 2-meter low-loss cable. Installation offers further advantages. The I-360-3G is an omni-directional antenna (beam spread 360°, up to +5 dBi antenna gain) and there is no need to direct it towards the UMTS base station to ensure good signal reception.

The AirLancer Extender I-360-3G is available now at a suggested retail price of £72.60 excluding VAT.
