Tamas Halmai, NATO C3 Agency, joins impressive line-up of presenters from TNO, Thales Communications, The MITRE Corporation and Progress Software at landmark event

MORRISTOWN, NJ—October 27, 2009—TM Forum, the world's premier industry group focused on business effectiveness for the communications and media sectors, announced today it will be holding its first one day industry event targeting the European Defense Community. The event, hosted by TM Forum member TNO at their headquarters in Delft on Thursday, November 5th, will unveil key European Defense specific case studies, examine existing TM Forum work efforts in the Defense Sector, and provide a unique networking opportunity amongst defense industry peers.

Tamas Halmai, from NATO C3 Agency, joins the impressive line-up of presenters from TNO, Thales Communications, The MITRE Corporation, Progress Software and the TM Forum.  Topics covered will include Managing Defense Communications Networks using TM Forum Standards, Federated Service Management, Policy Based Management, Autonomic Management, Security Management and more.

Key Facts:
•   TM Forum is actively involved in the Defense Sector with more than 70 member companies worldwide participating in this vibrant community
•   TM Forum members from the Government and Defense community are actively pursuing collaboration on application of industry standards and best practices to defense organizations, including the addition of special requirements known as "military unique features" in the development of supporting standards.
•   This first European workshop is free, and is open to TM Forum members and non-members.
•   There is limited seating.  Registration is available until October 28.

Quotes:
•   “When we launched the Defense Interest Group last year, we created a community of interest focused on exploring new areas of standardization, as well as enriching existing TM Forum standards for the defense industry. Now, one year later, this latest defense initiative demonstrates our ongoing commitment to expand the European Defense Community “. Martin Creaner, President, TM Forum

•   “Over the past several years, the TM Forum has helped our defense community members with real business and technical value by lowering their integration cost and risk, and providing more scalable solutions.  We see tremendous benefit in assembling the European Defense Community for collaboration and exchange of ideas, especially where our participants are sharing their Case Study presentations that show the true value of their use of TM Forum standards and best practices”.  Christy Coffey, Head, TM Forum Government and Defense Sector,

•   ”The NATO C3 Agency is committed to deliver interoperable C4ISR capabilities for the Alliance and in this effort we have already successfully utilized best practices and standards being worked on at TM Forum. Another key goal for us is to work closely with Industry on new innovations. This very first TM Forum’s European Defense Industry Day is seen by the NC3A as a great opportunity to meet with other European industry participants and collaborate on network and service management topics.“ Tamas Halmai, Principal Scientist, NATO C3 Age

•   “TNO has a long standing track record in applying TM Forum standards for ICT service providers. Adoption of these standards in the Defense industry is very beneficial. The challenges faced here are similar to these in telecommunications and in line with the support TNO offers the Dutch MoD in managing communication services and infrastructures. TNO is therefore proud to sponsor the very first European event promoting TM Forum to the European Defense industry and MoDs.“ Tim Daeleman, Innovator, TNO Information and Communication Technology
