Business Integration: Is Flat the new Growth? Sterling Commerce research results reveal European businesses are slow to maximise on potential business opportunities

Core Facts

Sterling Commerce launches second in series of video Guides to Business Integration

- With many companies citing that ‘flat is the new growth' in the current economic climate, Sterling Commerce today releases European Research  on the challenges faced by businesses when trying to drive efficiencies across the enterprise. Integrating systems across their Business Collaboration Network, both internally and externally, can lead to a plethora of business opportunities, but many lack the ability to achieve this.

- Sterling Commerce further studies this trend in the second in its series of video Guides to Business Integration launched today. Following the success of its first video, the new Guide discusses the changing nature of business integration over the decades. As companies have moved from paper-based and manual process-driven environments to the digital age we work in now, the lack of true business integration has left them struggling to dovetail digital and inherent archaic processes.

- In the video Dave Carmichael, Senior Product Marketing Manager at Sterling Commerce also looks at the results of Sterling Commerce's research released today.  He examines the difficulty businesses experience in integrating B2B systems with internal applications, on-boarding new partners and changing business processes, which will only escalate with the expected growth of B2B traffic.

- Carmichael comments, ‘Our research findings show that nearly half of our respondents take three to ten days to change a business process. In a 24 hour IT economy where time is of the essence, three to ten days is like stepping back thirty years in time, it's just not competitive enough.'

Quotes

- "Four out of five organisations said that they had issues and difficulty with their business integration capabilities.  The main reason given is that many of the technologies they are using are actually quite old.  This makes it very difficult for them to integrate the trading partner data with their back-end applications.   They have to create the ability to trade electronically with those trading partners, for until they get those trading partners on board, and until they trade with them electronically they can't achieve real-time visibility across the supply chain."

Dave Carmichael, Senior Product Marketing Manager, Sterling Commerce

- "By having one connection to manage our whole trading partner community, we have simplified partner integration and increased the ease of doing business together"

Peter Eeckhout, Operational Assistant Global Operations, Euro-Fitting Management

- "With Sterling Integrator, we have reduced errors, enhanced security and improved our responsiveness, enabling us to continually re-enforce the RCAR as the leader in pension management"

Ahmed Cherkaoui, Director, RCAR

- “Online transactions involve extremely complex processing, connecting multiple partners across the supply chain.  The Sterling Commerce solution plays a critical role in facilitating the information exchange across financial and logistics processes, ultimately enabling us to meet the needs of our customers, consistently delivering on client satisfaction whilst remaining cost effective”

Denis Gautier, Chief Technology Officer, Cards Off
