Sint-Niklaas, Belgium – Newtec’s customer services have been expanded worldwide by integrating the Global VSAT Forum’s (GVF) VSAT Installation Certification Program into its training portfolio. Newtec will teach GVF’s online courses as part of its own product-specific classroom training.

“Taking advantage of the GVF training program is a natural progression in the maturation of the Newtec training program. On average trainees already give the Newtec courses a satisfaction rating of more than 90%. Integrating the GVF courses will complement our training, and bring the skill-level of all trainees to a solid understanding of the fundamentals of satcom. This means we can concentrate our training on Newtec’s solutions,” says Sander Boom, Vice President of Customer Services and Vice President of Production at Newtec. “Additionally, offering the GVF certification as a built-in part of Newtec curriculum is an added value that we’re sure all of our training customers will appreciate.”

Having students complete the online courses as prerequisites to classroom training will bring everyone up to the same level of satcom knowledge, thereby increasing the efficiency of the product-specific classroom training for all participants. The training courses are designed, in conjunction with a Hands On Skills Test (HOST), to fully prepare installation technicians for the task of installing and commissioning fixed VSAT terminals. Trainees begin with course GVF510 and learn critical installation skills necessary to reduce uplink interference, including connector attachment, correct antenna assembly, pre-setting polarisation, quickly finding the satellite, and accurately pointing the VSAT antenna to minimise adjacent-satellite interference. Follow-on online courses cover the full range of satcom fundamentals knowledge and installation techniques that all VSAT installers need.

Both, the online courses and the HOSTS Test, required for trainees to complete all GVF Satellite Professional certifications, will be integrated into Newtec certification programs.
