NHS BI specialists, 21C, provides control of data and three-click reporting by leveraging existing Microsoft software infrastructure
London, 8 December 2009 – NHS business intelligence (BI) specialists, 21C, today announced that NHS Great Yarmouth & Waveney has deployed its Commissioner Accelerator as part of its World Class Commissioning (WCC) programme. One of the purposes of WCC is to promote evidence based decision-making, to drive improvements for the NHS and patient care. Utilising Microsoft products available through the NHS enterprise agreement, 21C has enabled Great Yarmouth & Waveney to gain control and access good quality data quickly and easily to meet WCC requirements.
Christine Thompson, Head of Information, NHS Great Yarmouth & Waveney said, “We knew we wanted a data warehouse solution, but we were flexible on what it contained and what it could do. 21C’s BI solution was able to pull out acute data for our reporting requirements, but also drill down into our inpatient, outpatient and A&E data. Having this high quality data, in one place, has provided us with the information required to make evidence-based decisions.”
21C’s Commissioner Accelerator enables PCTs to get a high-level overview or exception report down to patient, point of service delivery or clinical measure in three clicks or less – getting the best out of information assets such as Secondary Uses Service (SUS) and Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF). By using scorecards/Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), dashboards and reports, views and analytics, 21C provides end-to-end agile consulting processes that deliver flexible and fast process and technology improvements to meet the WCC requirements.
According to Thompson, Commissioner Accelerator is already saving time and money. “Using 21C’s analysis tools, we are able to meet ad hoc requests reducing the need to re-invest for each one-off query. We went to 21C because it promised to deliver a lot of functionality in a very short space of time, at a very reasonable cost; and they did exactly as promised.”
Daniel Wakefield, Sales Director at 21C added, “PCTs are going through a period of change with World Class Commissioning at the heart of improving NHS services. However, PCTs often have data sat within burgeoning silos and as a result cannot properly access their information and make evidence-based decisions. PCTs require a business intelligence solution that can pull data out of silos and drill into it to improve the PCTs ability to address the needs of their population.”
Wakefield continued, “We know that people need information, presented in different ways at various times. We designed Commissioner Accelerator to meet that need and break down the data stuck in these data silos.”
