Occam Networks Showcases New ETSI-compliant BLC 6006 Chassis Optimised To Deliver Broadband in Small and Medium Density Geographies
Compact 19” Footprint Leverages Extensive Family of High Capacity Broadband Service Modules
London, UK – November 10, 2009 – Occam Networks®, Inc. (Nasdaq: OCNW), a leading broadband access supplier offering multi-service access platform (MSAP) solutions based on pure packet technologies, is this week showcasing it’s new ETSI-compliant BLC 6006 chassis. The BLC 6006 chassis is a new deployment option for the BLC 6000 multi-service access platform and is optimised for small to medium density access networks in the midst of transition to high capacity broadband and has been developed to ETSI standards to support Occam’s new drive into the EMEA region.
The BLC 6006 incorporates Occam’s distributed intelligence architecture which allows each BLC blade to function standalone or in system level operation. As a result, service providers can customise any BLC chassis to accommodate any broadband technology all within a single operating system. The new chassis can accommodate up to six BLC blades in a 7 rack unit space and, when paired with the high-density BLC 6216 VDSL2 or BLC 6316 Gigabit Ethernet FTTP blades, can support up to 288 subscribers.
“The real benefit of the BLC 6006 chassis for service providers is opportunity to deploy high density broadband technologies in every area of their network,” said Juan Vela, Director of Marketing and Strategy at Occam Networks. “Service providers are eager to deploy intelligent, high performance solutions that exceed customer expectations and contribute to a rapid rate of return no matter where they are. The BLC 6006 allows them to do that”
The BLC 6006 complements the existing BLC 6001 single-slot chassis and BLC 6012 twelve slot chassis and provides unprecedented flexibility as operators now have the option of low, medium and high density MSAP footprints that leverage a single set of access interface service modules.
Occam has developed ANSI and ETSI versions of the BLC 6006 chassis enabling deployment in both the North America and EMEA regions. The BLC 6006 chassis provides an integrated and compact solution as service providers throughout the world expand broadband coverage to reach remaining un-served subscribers and upgrade existing broadband users to VDSL2 and FTTP.
The 6006 is expected to be available in Q1 2010.
