 One Laptop Per Child Is Here. What's Next? - Amin George Forji, Ohmy News

The much heralded One Laptop per Child (OLPC) project, otherwise known as XO or $100 laptop; a cheap computer project for children of developing countries, with the goal to supply every single child in the universe with a laptop, has at last lots of good news for its admirers. Firstly, on July 13, the brain behind the scheme philanthropist and co-founder of the Media Lab at Massachusetts Institute of Technology Nicholas Negroponte announced that they have now joined forces with rival chip-maker Intel, who had designed a similar computer project known as Classmate or Eee laptop. "I think we will end up with a family of products that run across a wide variety of needs. Intel will be part of that mix," said Walter Bender, OLPC's head of software development, as quoted by the BBC.
