Wokingham, UK, August 28, 2012 - Perforce Software has launched a new program that strengthens its commitment to educational institutions and provides students free access to the Perforce Software Version Management system. The Perforce in Education program provides educational institutions with free licenses for Perforce. While more than 50 academic institutions already use Perforce in their classrooms to create, develop, and version all their digital assets, this new program will help students get up and running faster with free access to Perforce’s introductory online course.

"By adding free online training, we are now enabling more colleges and universities to better prepare their students for careers in modern digital content creation.”

Vancouver Film School Joins Education Program
Vancouver Film School (VFS), Canada’s premier entertainment arts institution, has taken advantage of the new program. With 2,000 educational licenses, VFS enables its students to collaborate on digital entertainment projects, storing all of their work from initial concept through to polished results. VFS students learn source code management, data security, how to develop logical workflows, change tracking, and accountability for their work.

“Perforce is the tool of choice for day-to-day asset management at media- based organizations worldwide, and this program ensures VFS students will learn on the same enterprise-level production and pipeline software used by their future employers,” Peter Walsh, senior instructor in Game Design at VFS. “At VFS we ensure that whenever possible we emulate the real world within our educational model. Through this program, we’re able to do just that.”
