Photonic Cross Connects explore new shores
« Posted: June 18, 2008, 06:03:18 PM »

Event Note
Munich, Germany – June 18th, 2008

At WDM show in Cannes Nokia Siemens Networks will report on new operational area for Photonic Cross Connects (PXC).

Multi-degree PXCs allow to flexibly switch wavelengths between different fiber pairs connected to the PXC node. These nodes are one of the basic building blocks of modern reconfigurable transparent all-optical networks. They account for lowering operational expenditure and speeding up provisioning times. PXC technology is already accepted in current (ultra) long distance networks.

Latest technology developments make this functionality now commercially interesting for use in metro/regional aggregation networks driving the deployment of multi-haul DWDM systems over all network layers with a common technology. The presentation will highlight current PXC building blocks and concepts. Plus, it will explain applications and benefits.

The presentation will be held at 25th June at 10:15 a.m.
