Innovative Fiber Optic Switch Leverages Industry Standard Control Protocol

Billerica, MA; Cambridge, UK – June 11, 2008 Polatis Inc, a supplier of high performance optical switch technologies, today announced that it has partnered with Crestron, the market leader in management control systems, to ensure compatibility with their next generation Trinity Optical Routing Switch as Polatis enters the Pro AV market.

The membership with Crestron will allow Polatis to offer their Trinity optical switching technology alongside Crestron’s industry standard automation system. The partnership comes at a time of convergence in the video market, with Pro AV applications turning more to fiber transport for higher bandwidth in video, audio and data.

"We are pleased to partner with Crestron to offer our leading edge optical switching technology along side Crestron’s industry standard automation system said Aaron Bent, Vice President Marketing at Polatis. As bandwidths keep increasing, optical switches will become an integral and future-proof part of the Professional A/V’s development, and users can implement this exciting technology within their current automation and control systems,” said Aaron Bent, Vice President Marketing at Polatis.

"The market’s increasing demand for the bandwidth and performance in presentation devices is creating the need for a fiber optic infrastructure," said Chris Wildfoerster, Director of Business Development, Crestron. "The Trinity switch provides a unique and future-proof capability to route signals on fiber. Providing interoperability with the Crestron control and automation system ensures our dealers and system integrators seamless integration into a fiber infrastructure with the family of Crestron-approved products."

The Trinity series is designed to carry all types of video transport.  It supports virtually all protocols and data rates – HDMI, DVI, SD/HD, SMPTE-276M, 259M, and 292M, NTSC, RF and other audio and data protocols.  The flexible and multi-purpose switch creates exciting new signal routing solutions for medical centers, stadiums, large venues and government. Like all Polatis products, traffic can be bi-directional, and carry single or multiple wavelengths.

To see a live product demonstration of Trinity, visit the Polatis booth C829 at INFOCOMM, Las Vegas, 2008, Monday June 17 through Thursday June 20.
