Combination of content and video creates online presentations that are more engaging and effective
London, 2nd May 2012 – Present.me launches today. For the first time, putting together an online presentation that combines synchronised content and video, viewable on-demand, has become really easy for anyone, from schoolchildren to CEOs. Think YouTube meets Slideshare.
A cloud service, Present.me enables individuals and organisations to create and share presentations online, so that the viewer sees both content (slides, photos or documents) and the presenter (via webcam or uploaded video) side-by-side, on-demand.
Present.me was created to solve a simple problem: with around 30 million daily presentations created in PowerPoint alone, why are so many still only emailed or shared online without being actually presented? In a nutshell, because no simple, cost effective solution allowed these online presentations to “fly on all four engines” – the content, a human face, in one place and available on-demand.
“People talk about ‘sending a presentation’, and then just send slides. But the slides are only half the story. We need to see and hear the presenter as well, and at the same time,” says Spencer Lambert, CEO. “The stumbling block has always been how to edit together content and video and put it online in a simple way. Present.me solves that problem. You can communicate your idea, knowledge or message to anyone online, while giving your audience the ability to consume it in their own time. It’s low cost, easy and incredibly engaging.”
And Present.me isn’t just about formal presentations: whether pitching for business, updating your team, setting assignments for students or applying for a job, it can be used in countless situations where content would be more easily understood, and have greater impact, with the addition of a human face and commentary. Present.me is a powerful tool for online communication:
- It's easy - simply upload content (slides, photos or document), click record and talk into your webcam (or upload a previously recorded video), and publish (publicly or privately)
- It's in the cloud - you don’t need to install an application and you don’t need to shift around massive files, it’s all just a click away
- It's on demand - the best of both worlds: you record in your own time and your audience (public or private) can watch it when they are ready
- It's mobile – a presentme can be viewed in any browser, on an iPad, and on any Android or iOS device with an app
- It's integrated – login with Google Apps, access your docs and share with your contacts.
The platform was launched in beta during April 2011 by the founders (two ex-actors, a presentation designer and an internet veteran) who together have over 100 years of communication coaching and consulting experience between them, working with everyone from individuals to global blue chip companies. Since that time, with no PR or marketing, 8,000 users have already registered and the site receives around 70,000 visits a month.
Today, Present.me is being used around the world by individuals, teachers, their students and small businesses. It is currently piloting in two large UK corporates and the service is shortly to be trialled in a number of UK schools.
Present.me users can sign-up for three different account options:
- Free – three presentations a month, one private, 15 minutes each
- Plus ($9 p/m) – 30 presentations, 60 minutes each, unlimited private presentations
- Pro ($39 p/m) – unlimited presentations, 60 minutes each
- Corporate and educational pricing is available on request
Spencer concludes, “Obviously, we live in an on-demand world. With so much information out there, we want to consume content at a time that suits us. Making this content stand out, if it isn’t presented live, is therefore crucial. We think Present.me is a real step forward for anyone who wants to be in the vanguard of communicating better online.”
