Packet Optical Edge Network Enhances the Guest Experience with IPTV Service Delivery
Ottawa, Canada—Thursday, March 19, 2009 // BTI Systems, a global supplier of
Intelligent Service Edge solutions for the delivery of high-bandwidth, multi-protocol services, today announced that Rentacolor (Mauritius) Ltd., a hospitality network system integrator and service provider, has selected BTI to build a 10G Ethernet network for the Sugar Beach Resort in Mauritius for IPTV in-room guest services at the exclusive, 250-suite luxury resort.
“Sugar Beach guests expect the best in hospitality and we aim to offer these astute consumers a wide range of entertainment options with the best service,” said Ismet Aumeeruddy, Director, Technology at Rentacolor. “BTI provides a superior end-to-end solution, engineering services, and installation support for a turn-key IPTV implementation, helping us make a stay at Sugar Beach even more enjoyable.”
Rentalcolor chose a BTI solution to provide a scalable solution in order for the resort to easily enhance the guest experience with the latest technology and already has plans to expand the in-room service offering with Video on Demand (VoD) and Internet access capabilities. The compact nature, wall-mounted cabinet capabilities, and ability of the BTI 7000 to withstand broad temperature ranges were also deemed as valuable solution attributes.
The BTI 7060 and 7030 deployment connects the Sugar Beach Resort’s three guest accommodation villas to the resort’s head-end data center room using packetVX integrated packet services modules. The solution provides 10G Ethernet between resort facilities as well as client-side Gigabit Ethernet aggregation; VLAN functionality separates media and management communications for set-top boxes.
“Rentacolor required a flexible solution that delivers high capacity networking capabilities with significant operational value to support the many IPTV channels it offers today and the ability to support streaming video and additional, innovative guest services in the long term,” said James Warrell, Vice President, EMEA Sales, BTI Systems. “With the BTI solution, Rentacolor now has a scalable network solution with capabilities that simplify video and Ethernet services administration, delivery, and management within its hospitability networks.”
