PARIS, France,- September 27th, 2007 –
Anevia, the IPTV technology provider and Siemens Business Services today announced the deployment of their solutions in BBC head offices in United Kingdom.
Siemens chose Anevia’s innovative technology for the introduction of an IPTV service for the BBC. The service offers BBC staff contact with BBC and other channels output at their desktop and through IP set-top boxes. Uses include the distribution of Arabic TV channels for the new World Service Arabic News channel launching later this year. The service offers more than 100 Radio and TV channels including Worldwide and English TV channels (economy, news, sports…).
Distribution could not be easier with an IPTV client as a standard component of the BBC desktop and an easy to use web interface for channels and ordering set top boxes. The solution is highly configurable and scaleable with opportunities for local enhancements to the service.
Anevia IPTV products deployed by Siemens are the Flamingo series for broadcast of satellite and DTT channels, and Sunbird for broadcast of internal channels from analog signals. Flamingo keeps the satellite video quality and streams it directly over IP, without encoding or transcoding. It enables a cost effective head-end solution as well as optimal video quality.
«Anevia is delighted to have been choosen and deployed by BBC and Siemens. This order involves a large number of Flamingos for each site implemented, and highlights Anevia top-level and carrier grade quality» stated Damien Lucas, co-Founder of Anevia.
After a first successful deployment in London, Anevia head end is being extended to BBC offices in Glasgow, Cardiff, Belfast and Birmingham in the next few weeks.
