- Upgrade supports server virtualisation and migration path and future proofs network investment

- Reduces provision and management of services and improves network reliability

OSLO, Norway, 8 May, 2012 - Sparebanken Vest, one of Norway’s oldest banks, has chosen Avaya’s Virtual Enterprise Network Architecture (VENA) as part of a project to upgrade the bank’s network infrastructure and support its move to a virtualised server environment.

Following a thorough market review, Sparebanken Vest determined that Avaya, a global provider of business collaboration and communications solutions and services, was best placed to address the bank’s infrastructure needs. Specifically, the Avaya VENA Enterprise Fabric capability for supporting seamless data centre expansion to a third location, to deliver a server virtualisation and migration path, and to provision a new flexible, high-performance enterprise network.

Based on Shortest Path Bridging, an open standard, Avaya’s Enterprise Fabric capability was chosen because of its ability to minimise the risk of errors by simplifying the provisioning of new services and the configuration of networks. As new services are required, the Fabric enables changes to be made only at the edge of the network, rather than on every device and every link, so that they take place more efficiently and with less risk. This flexibility enables the bank to improve time-to-service, reducing the time needed to plan and implement upgrades and changes for its 830 staff based across 68 locations.

Quotes
“Avaya VENA allows us to upgrade our existing set-up by building a very advanced and future-proofed cloud-based network. It gives us the flexibility and reliability we are looking for but in a simple, straightforward way. Avaya’s genuine open standards approach gives us confidence that we are protecting our existing investment and still future-proofing our network to easily accommodate future innovations.”
- Harald Nordås, Network Manager, Sparebanken Vest

“High availability is a critical requirement for any bank. By leveraging The Power of We™ and our experience in deploying large, multi-campus environments around the world Avaya is allowing the Sparebanken Vest to evolve its network quickly and easily.  We’re helping them build for the future and deliver real business benefits today.”
- Olivier Baraquin, EMEA Data & Video Sales Leader, Avaya
