Telehouse enter the Russia data centre market with Telehouse Moscow
« Posted: November 01, 2012, 09:04:43 PM »

1 Nov 2012, London - Telehouse, the global data centre subsidiary of Japanese telecommunications provider KDDI, has today announced the opening of its first data centre in Russia located in central Moscow.

Telehouse Moscow
Telehouse Moscow forms part of the global expansion strategy to accommodate the needs of its growing client base and development into emerging markets, marking the 45th global Telehouse data centre.

In partnership with local colocation operator Dataspace, the new Telehouse Moscow data centre is located within their 6,200m2 site, 15 minutes from the Kremlin. The Dataspace site is the only Tier III data centre certified for its design and facility by the Uptime Institute in Russia and Eastern Europe. Telehouse Moscow will be managed by European Headquarters in London Docklands and KDDI’s Russian operations will be managing all on-site connectivity and managed services including technical support by multilingual staff.

Hiroshi Kobayashi, Managing Director of Telehouse and KDDI Europe, “We recognise Russia as a key emerging market due to its substantial internet growth and the rapid progress of Moscow’s IT infrastructure, establishing the capital as  a potential major data centre hub within Eastern Europe. We intend long-term investment with our Telehouse business in Russia. Our experience and relationships within the local market will enable us to play a key role in Moscow’s international ICT development.”

The carrier-neutral data centre employs the latest technology in security access systems including iris and biometric hand scanners making it one of the most reliable and secure data centre facilities in Russia.  With focus on hosting multinational corporations, Telehouse Moscow offers shared facility management with average 4kW per footprint provision.

Kobayashi continues, “For over 20 years, we have maintained a reputation for instilling confidence in companies around the world to trust and partner with third party providers for security, reliability and connectivity of their data, who have traditionally managed their systems in-house.  Telehouse Moscow will continue our commitment in managing our customer’s ICT infrastructure cost efficiently and ensuring them peace of mind.”

Telehouse Moscow has already pre-sold space to a major Japanese gaming corporation. This new global expansion is in addition to the acquisition of Databurg in Frankfurt, Germany, announced earlier in January 2012 and news of further new builds in China and Hong Kong.
