telent’s framework maintenance contract for Firelink Programme extended by over £7 million
27 September 2007 – telent plc (LSE: TLNT), a leading provider of technology services, today announced that it has enhanced its initial framework contract with a £7.5 million maintenance and support scheme for Airwave’s Firelink Programme, a dedicated communications service for emergency and other public safety services.
The extension brings the total value of telent’s framework contract, which will run until December 2016, to £28 million. The new maintenance and support scheme extends telent’s initial scope of work to cover 24-hour, 365-day per year maintenance and support for over 10,000 in-vehicle radios and 2,000 fixed radios across Great Britain.
“We have earned a reputation for service excellence with the emergency services, and this extension illustrates our customers’ confidence in telent’s ability to ensure that critical national communications systems are maintained to the highest standards.” “Our national field force of fully trained service engineers has extensive experience of installing and maintaining complex communications networks, and will ensure that any faults are corrected quickly and efficiently,” said Mark Plato, CEO of telent.
In September 2006, telent was awarded the Airwave Contract to support the deployment of the Airwave Firelink Programme. telent was contracted to provide project management, design services, installation services, helpdesk and asset management across Great Britain. telent has been providing service for Airwave for over three years to organisations such as North Yorkshire Police, the Port of Liverpool, British Energy, several local authorities and the RSPCA through the Airwave Direct Service.
