The European Commission is signing a 4-year IT services supply contract with Fujitsu Services.

Fujitsu Services, one of the leading IT services companies in Europe, was recently awarded a new contract relating to a 4-year mission within the Directorate General for External Relations (DG Relex) of the European Commission.

To keep pace with certain organizational changes, on the one hand, and the increased workload of its delegations, on the other, the Directorate General for External Relations of the European Commission launched a call for tender. The new contract covers the supply of IT services, including: the management of the Helpdesk, infrastructure management, user support and the management of the projects of the Delegations of the European Commission (5 000 users, 134 Delegations world wide).

A series of additional services such as architecture consulting, the management and design of the ICT infrastructure as well as security audits are also included.

Fujitsu Services was awarded this tender as it submitted the most economically attractive bid in terms of value for money.

According to Yves Schellekens, Managing Director Fujitsu Services Belgium & Luxembourg, “This new contract will allow us to pursue and develop our activities among the European Institutions, which, for Fujitsu Services, represent a strategic sector of activities”.

The contract will enter into force on the 1st of June 2008.

In total, around twenty Fujitsu experts, whose experience and qualifications meet the requirements laid down in the specifications, will provide these services on the site of the Directorate General for External Relations of the European Commission in Brussels.
