The Semantic Mesh Network Is Born
The company from Milan is the Official Sponsor of Wireless and Digital Cities in Cannes, where it presents the latest wi-fi frontiers
Milan, 27th September 2007 – Wi-Next, the first open wi-fi company in the world, chooses Wireless and Digital Cities (
http://www.wirelesscitiescongress.eu, the event taking place in Cannes between the 26th and 28th of September, to launch the most sophisticated innovations achieved by N.A.A.W. technology for the creation of semantic mesh wi-fi networks.
Wi-Next works out technological solutions aimed at developing a digital ecosystem based on N.A.A.W. Technologies, which is able not only to create wireless mesh user-driven networks, but also to discover the hidden utility of the network. In this way the nodes can describe themselves and their services and the system is able to gather and distribute the network content, making them available for the users easily and automatically.
It is possible to transform the wireless networks into mesh semantic by combining the autodiscovery technologies of machines and services with those of content semantic characterization supported by W3C, the World Wide Web Consortium (
http://www.w3c.it).
“The collaborative networks – states Nicola De Carne, Ceo of Wi-Next – are a fast growing phenomenon. They represent a form of organization able to involve a high number of people on specific issues. In the last years we have been in front of the revival of the down generated contents, which used to be one of the features of the Internet itself in the beginning, and of the possibility to share contents between users just thanks to the collaborative networks.
But, above all, the huge re-emerging of the end to end use of the network thanks to the 2.0 technologies and the consequent exponential increase of the information generated in a decentralized way determine the necessity to provide the network nodes with an intelligence helping people in the research, sharing, management of contents and services in the network.”
According to Wi-Next the semantic mesh networks are an evolution of the mesh networks where the content network can be transferred and described with digital languages which can be easily interpreted both by software agents and natural languages. As a result of this, people and machine can browse, share and integrate information in the easiest way.
The principal element in the Wi-Next technology for the creation of semantic mesh networks is made up of the N.A.A.W. enabled router transformed into real semantic router.
The recent developments of N.A.A.W. technologies show the great commitment of Wi-Next in the achievement of the current technological goals and the future scenarios.
Wi-Next goal is to make, both for single user and the community, the access and use of network content easier through wireless communication technologies.
WI-NEXT
WI-NEXT is a wholly owned subsidiary of IpWorld Srl and it’s the first world’s open wi-fi company. Its R&D program is focused on the creation, production and diffusion of wireless communication systems able to answer the growing demand for access to broadband IP networks.
N.A.A.W., an Open Source software technology, is the first Wi-Next product. It represents the result of a remarkable partnership with the Automatics and Informatics Department of Politecnico in Turin.
Since last February the company is part of the Wi-Fi Alliance and WiMax Forum, the main worldwide organizations in the wireless industry. WI-NEXT recently received a one million Euro credit line from Intesa Sanpaolo, the most important Italian banking group to support its R& D program.
